The meetings receive no external subsidy, but depend on participants’ contributions and on contributions made to a solidarity fund by those who are able to do so.
What you give for your stay covers meals, accommodation and other expenses of the meetings. The suggested level of contribution takes into account participants’ country of origin. Within the range given, each person chooses what contribution to make.
If you need a receipt, please ask for one when you give your contribution. We cannot give receipts once you’ve left Taizé!

Calculating contributions
Contributions are calculated based on meals rather than nights! Supper + lunch = 1 day.
If you arrive on Sunday afternoon and stay until the following Sunday afternoon, then calculate for a 7 day stay.
If you wish to leave on the Sunday morning and take a packed lunch with you, then you should still calculate for a 7 day stay.
If you arrive on Sunday morning, stay through until the following Sunday afternoon, and wish to take a packed meal with you for your journey, calculate for an 8 day stay. It’s the same if you arrive Saturday evening, leave on Sunday morning the week after and want to take a packed lunch with you for your journey.
If you arrive on Friday evening for supper and leave Sunday after lunch, calculate for 2 days.
Please note: there is a minimum contribution of 1 full day, even if you arrive in the evening and leave the following morning
How should we give our contribution towards the costs?
While cash payments are possible, if you are bringing a group try as far as possible to to limit these.
You can give your contribution on arrival by credit card (Visa, Eurocard, Mastercard, Maestro). When bringing a group, please check beforehand with your bank that you are able to use your card for such a sum.
You may also make a bank transfer before coming (barring real exceptions, it is neither necessary nor desirable to send us sums of less than 150 euros in advance). Please use cheques payable in France, or travellers’ cheques. For any other kind of cheque it is better to check beforehand that it is in fact acceptable in Taizé.
If you are bringing a group of young adults, please make the contribution for the whole group together if at all possible, whichever means of payment you are using. Asking group members to make their contribution individually will mean waiting for longer when you arrive!
For further details, if you want to make a bank transfer before coming or if you have questions about any of the above mentioned means of payment, please write to meetings taize.fr putting “costs of stay” in the subject line of your message.
