TAIZÉ

Short meditation of the day

Some Eastern Christians are very attached to the prayer of the Name of Jesus. There are those for whom simply repeating the name Jesus expresses the fullness of a communion. Throughout the world, other Christians pray almost unceasingly with a few words: “Christ Jesus, do not let my darkness speak to me; let me welcome your love.” Or else they repeat that age-old prayer: “Let nothing trouble you, God alone is enough.” Or again, they pray at every moment: “A thirst fills my soul, to surrender everything to you, Christ.” And they find peace in their longing.
