Compagnie de la Chine et des Indes
“This autumn, Daniel de Montmollin, brother of Taizé, is exhibiting a selection of his most recent creations at the Compagnie de la Chine et des Indes. Faithful to the tradition of the great masters of stoneware glazes of the past, he enthusiastically continues his research in the areas which are dear to him. His main talent lies in the diversity and richness of his glazes, based on the ashes of a variety of plants. The viewer’s eye travels through landscapes formed by the bursting of the bubbles in an iron-based glaze often called “oil-spot.” The gentleness of his amazing glazes devoid of any feldspar, yellow or purple, robes stoneware forms of a rare elegance and perfect balance . . .”
