Young adult meetings in Taizé

A Week in Silence

During your stay in Taizé young people may, if you wish, choose to spend the week in silence. By taking time to listen to what is deep in our hearts - through prayer, Bible reading and reflecting on the events of our lives - we can be refreshed and discover more about how God is present in our lives.

You will take part in the common prayers together with everyone else. Accommodation and meals are in an area set aside for silence. Each day one of the sisters or brothers will lead a Bible reflection. You will also be offered the opportunity to meet individually with a brother or a sister if you wish. The rest of the day is spent in personal reflection - the sisters and brothers will give further suggestions of how to spend this time as the week goes on.

You may alternatively choose to spend two days in silence, from Friday until Sunday.

Adults: During the summer, in July and August, a special group is offered for adults over 30 who wish to be in silence. At other times of year you will take part in the normal group for over 30s.

On arrival please let the welcome team know that you are thinking about being in silence. They will put you in touch with the sister or brother who is leading the group and you can speak to them about the best way of spending the week.
