Meetings in Taizé 2017

Dates

Please carefully check the dates of the meeting in which you wish to participate and take them into consideration before registering.

Youth meetings

- young people aged 18 to 29: One week this year, 20 - 27 August, is reserved specially for 18-35 year-olds. Otherwise, come any week of the year between 6 January and 24 December.

- young people from 15 to 17: every week between 6 January and 24 December except 20-27 August.

The meetings always run from Sunday to Sunday. Young adults can also arrive on Saturday evenings if they are staying for the following week. In this case, they will be asked to help welcome those who arrive the following day.

(A weekend stay from Thursday or Friday until Sunday is also possible, but it really is better to stay the full week. A stay from Saturday morning to Sunday is too short to enter into the rhythm of life in Taizé.)

Exceptions to the “Sunday rule” are the weeks each side of Easter, when Easter Monday serves as departure and arrival day and Pentecost, when Whit Monday serves similarly.

In 2017, this means:
- Holy Week: Sunday 09/04 - Monday 17/04
- Easter Week: Monday 17/04 - Sunday 23/04
- Pentecost: Sunday 28/05 - Monday 05/06
- Pentecost Week: Monday 05/06 - Sunday 11/06

Meetings for adults

In 2017, we will welcome adults over 30 years-old from Sunday 02/04 to Sunday 22/10, except the week of 20-27 August. However, adults aged 30-35 are, of course, also invited for the special week for 18-35 year-olds, 20-27 August.

We ask the adults for whom it is possible to avoid busy periods like Holy Week, Easter Week, Ascension week (21-28 May 2017) and from mid-July to the end of August.

Meetings for adults always run from Sunday through to the following Sunday.

Exceptions to the “Sunday rule” are the weeks each side of Easter, when Easter Monday serves as departure and arrival date and Pentecost, when Whit Monday serves similarly.

In 2017, this means:
- Holy Week: Sunday 09/04 - Monday 17/04
- Easter Week: Monday 17/04 - Sunday 23/04
- Pentecost: Sunday 28/05 - Monday 05/06
- Pentecost Week: Monday 05/06 - Sunday 11/06

(A weekend stay from Thursday or Friday until Sunday is also possible, but it really is better to stay the full week. A stay from Saturday morning to Sunday is too short to enter into the rhythm of life in Taizé.)

Please make sure you read carefully all the information in Meetings for adults over 30 before making further plans.

Adults wanting to spend the week in silence, should please read the page A week in silence before deciding when to come.

Meetings for families with children

We ask families not to register before 15 January of the year in which they wish to come.

In 2017, family meetings for parents with children under 15 will be held during the following weeks;

- Holy Week: Sunday 09/04 - Monday 17/04
- Easter Week: Monday 17/04 - Sunday 23/04
- Pentecost Week: Monday 05/06 - Sunday 11/06
- From Sunday to Sunday between 02/07 and 09/07
- In French only from Sunday to Sunday between 09/07 and 16/07*
- From Sunday to Sunday between 16/07 and 20/08
- From Sunday to Sunday between 27/08 and 03/09

* The week 9-16 July will be a week, when only families who speak French are invited. See Familles solidaires for details.

Families wishing to come outside of these times can stay for a maximum of three nights and take part in the meetings for adults. Short stays like this are possible only between Easter and the end of September.

Please read carefully the article Meetings for families before making any further plans.

Because of the annual European Meeting, Taizé is closed between 24 December and 6 January. We cannot welcome anyone during this period.
