Meetings in Taizé 2019

Dates 2019

Please carefully check the dates of the meeting in which you wish to participate and take them into consideration before registering.

Youth meetings

- young people aged 18 to 29: One week this year, 25 August - 1 September, is reserved specially for 18-35 year-olds. Otherwise, come any week of the year between 6 January and 22 December.

- young people from 15 to 17: every week between 6 January and 22 December except 25 August - 1 September.

The meetings always run from Sunday to Sunday. Young adults can also arrive on Saturday evenings if they are staying for the following week. In this case, they will be asked to help welcome those who arrive the following day.

(A weekend stay from Thursday or Friday until Sunday is also possible, but it really is better to stay the full week. A stay from Saturday morning to Sunday is too short to enter into the rhythm of life in Taizé.)

Exceptions to the “Sunday rule” are the weeks each side of Easter, when Easter Monday serves as departure and arrival day.

In 2019, this means:
- Holy Week: Sunday 14/04 - Monday 22/04
- Easter Week: Monday 22/04 - Sunday 28/04

Meetings for adults

In 2019, we will welcome adults over 30 years-old from Sunday 31/03 to Sunday 20/10, except the week of 25 August - 1 September. However, adults aged 30-35 are, of course, also invited for the reflection week for 18-35 years-old, 25 August - 1 September.

We ask the adults over 35 years-old for whom it is possible to avoid busy periods like Holy Week, Easter Week, Ascension week (26 May - 2 June 2019) and from mid-July to the end of August. The following times are less busy: from 31/03 to 14/04; from 28/04 to 26/05; from 16/06 to 14/07; from 01/09 to 20/10.

Meetings for adults always run from Sunday through to the following Sunday.

Exceptions to the “Sunday rule” are the weeks each side of Easter, when Easter Monday serves as departure and arrival date.

In 2019, this means:
- Holy Week: Sunday 14/04 - Monday 22/04

Please make sure you read carefully all the information in Meetings for adults over 30 before making further plans.

Adults wanting to spend the week in silence, should please read the page A week in silence before deciding when to come.

Meetings for families with children

We ask families not to register before 15 January of the year in which they wish to come.

In 2019, family meetings for parents with children under 15 will be held during the following weeks;

- Pentecost Week: Sunday 09/06 - Sunday 16/06
- From Sunday to Sunday between 30/06 and 25/08

Families wishing to come outside of these times can stay for a maximum of three nights and take part in the meetings for adults. Short stays like this are possible only between Easter and the end of September.

Please read carefully the article Meetings for families before making any further plans.

Because of the annual European Meeting, Taizé is closed between 22 December and 6 January. We cannot welcome anyone during this period.
