Registration

Register via the general form, specifying in the comments "AIC meeting" ("Amitié Islamo-Chrétienne"). Deadline: 15 June 2023. For youth groups, please write to us as soon as possible at aic taize.fr if your group is interested in coming to Taizé next July, and if possible indicate approximately how many people will come.

General programme

Each day, regular times of prayer will be offered and a specific place for Muslim prayer will be set up in one of the rooms usually dedicated to the meetings. Muslims and Christians will be able, if they wish, to discover what "praying" means for young people from a religious tradition other than their own. The emphasis will be on sharing in small groups, with the possibility of meeting others during informal free time.

An imam will lead the morning exchanges in collaboration with a Taizé brother, using a passage from the Koran introduced by the imam, and a passage from the Bible introduced by the Taizé brother.

In the middle of the afternoon, after the meal and some free time to relax, everyone will be able to take part in one or other of the practical tasks―washing up, cleaning, gardening, various material help for the general upkeep of the places in Taizé, meal preparation, etc. Every day, from 5.30 to 7pm, workshops on different topics will be offered for those who wish to participate: themes linked to relations between Christians and Muslims, but also workshops focusing on other subjects. In addition to the "Christian-Muslim" group, there will also be several hundred other young people present in Taizé that week.

To be noted

  • It is also possible to stay in Taizé from the afternoon of Thursday 13 July to midday on Sunday 16 July and then to join the regular programme of weekends in Taizé from Thursday evening onwards (choose to take part in the international meetings or a time for a retreat in silence).
  • For young people from the Paris region: a bus will leave for Taizé on Sunday 9 July in the middle of the morning from the mosque in Massy (Paris-Sud), with a stop at Denfert-Rochereau. Return on the afternoon of 13 July. Registration details and information: to be announced soon.
