Nairobi, the “city under the sun”, is the metropolis of East Africa. It is an administrative, commercial and industrial centre, and a hub for road and air communications. The Kenyan capital hosts two United Nations agencies headquarters (Habitat and Environment) and a large number of international organisations, among them the All Africa Conference of Churches. At the end of November 2008, 7 000 young adults from many countries in Africa and beyond came together in Nairobi for an “African stage” of the pilgrimage of trust on earth.
