A Taizé brother preparing the meeting the Holy Land which will take place from 8 - 15 May 2022 writes:
For three weeks now I have been journeying on the paths of the Bible. Yesterday, we prayed in the chapel of Bethlehem University. Thanks to work done in Beirut during our 2019 meeting, Taizé songs are becoming more and more known with quality Arabic translations. They are also sung in Hebrew in Jerusalem and elsewhere.
Many here are looking forward to the coming meeting. The call to "hope in season and out of season" is seen in the Holy Land as the call to be heard today. Not surprisingly, the emphasis is on "out of season" because in the current climate nothing is less obvious than hope. The church leaders I meet know that the Christians of the Holy Land will only remain standing if their faith is nourished from deep sources. This is the case for Daoud and his family. This Palestinian farmer refuses to be considered as anyone’s enemy. He hopes to welcome young people to his home during our meeting next May.
Meeting many people in this complex part of the world, one is struck by this fact: they all speak of the urgency of supporting each other by going together to sources of hope and trust. Is this not what we wish to experience in our pilgrimage of trust across the earth?
