A Christian who lived sixteen hundred years ago, Saint Augustine, left behind some words that open wide the gates of the Gospel. He struggled a great deal to come to God. He suffered from his behavior as a young man. He was so honest with himself that at times he must have despaired of his own self. Then one day, he was able to write down these words: “If you desire to know God, you already have faith.” (6)
