Adults (35+)
Taizé welcomes adults over the age of 35 in addition to young people aged 15 to 35. However, due to the large number of young people and the very simple accommodation conditions, we ask them to understand certain limitations and not to come more than once a year. Adults can come individually or as a couple, but we cannot accept groups of adults.
Adults are welcome for a week (from Sunday to Sunday), or for a few days at the beginning of the week (arriving on Sunday) or at the end of the week (leaving on Sunday). Longer stays are not possible.
Adults can only be welcomed to Taizé at certain times of the year. Please check when we can welcome adults this year. A stay of only one night would be too short to get into the rhythm of the life. We cannot welcome those who are just passing through.
When you come to Taizé, we expect you to remain here throughout your stay, taking part in the rhythm of the day; the most important aspect is the community prayer three times a day. After receiving your registration request, the welcome team will confirm if you can come at that time or if it is necessary to change the dates.
General information
Dates
In 2026, we welcome adults over 35 from Sunday March 22 to Sunday October 18, as well as the last week of August, since in 2026 there is no week reserved for 18-35 year olds.
Adults over 35 who are able should avoid coming during certain busy times:
- Holy Week and Easter Weed (between March 29 and April 12),
- Ascension week (from 10/05 to 17/05), and from mid-July to mid-August.
The following periods are not so busy: from 22/03 to 29/03; from 12/04 to 10/05; from 17/05 to 19/07; from 23/08 to 18/10.
The meetings always take place from Sunday to Sunday. The exceptions to this rule are the two weeks around Easter, during which the day of arrival and departure is Monday. In 2025, this means
- Holy Week: Sunday March 29 to Monday April 06
- Easter Week: Monday April 06 to Sunday April 12
A weekend stay from Thursday or Friday to Sunday is also possible, although it is preferable to stay for a full week. A weekend stay with arrival on Saturday morning is too short to get into the rhythm of life at Taizé.
Limitations
We may not be able to accept late registrations for busy weeks. Please wait for our confirmation before planning your trip. We ask that adult groups not exceed 7 people, or in the case of a large group, not exceed 20% of the group (1 of 5). This limit also includes parents participating in the family program. Beyond the 7, two additional adults may come provided they accompany the 15-17 year olds in the group. We can sometimes make exceptions for groups coming from other continents, so please check with us before planning your trip. To avoid misunderstandings or disappointment, it is essential that organizers present the invitation to come to Taizé as a “group” only to those aged 15-35. A stay spanning two weeks is not possible.
Please do not bring pets.
Accommodation
If possible, please come with camping equipment (tent, caravan or camping car). Otherwise, you will be given a place in shared accommodation, in Taizé or nearby, when you arrive. It is not possible to reserve particular accommodation in advance, especially in busy weeks. Those aged 36 to 70 are accommodated in dormitories with several beds; those over 70, when possible, in 4-bedded rooms; Couples, when possible, are given twin-bedded rooms in Taizé or in villages nearby. Young couples may be accommodated in tents.
Please bring sheets or a sleeping-bag, and a towel.
Contribution to the costs
The hospitality at Taizé is financed by contributions from participants in the meetings, and everyone is asked to contribute according to their means. The suggested contribution covers meals, accommodation, and other expenses. It is not the same for everyone, but takes into account each person's means and country of origin. A minimum and maximum amount are suggested, and everyone is free to choose what they wish to give. You can read the page “Financial contribution” to find out more about how costs are calculated and the different ways of paying.
