The 49th European Youth Meeting will take place in Lodz, Poland, from 28 December 2026 to 1 January 2027.

At the invitation of local churches of various denominations, thousands of young people from across Europe, aged 18 to 35, will gather for a time of prayer, reflection, and community. In a spirit of celebration and friendship, the city of Lodz will open its doors to pilgrims seeking a deeper experience of faith and solidarity.

1 meeting - 6 topics

During the European Meeting, on 29 and 30 December, participants will be able to choose a thematic block—a 'city'—for each day, rather than attending just a single workshop. Each block will feature a talk, practical workshops, round tables, and Q&A sessions. Participants will follow a set sequence from one session to the next, allowing them to experience everything the block has to offer. Between sessions, coffee and tea will be available in a 'chill' zone—a space to rest and share the evening picnic. These themes have been chosen to reflect both a spirit of diversity and the unique identity of Łódź.

The pilgrimage of trust continues: from Paris to Łódź

Łódź is a city of women who, for nearly 200 years, drove its development through their hard work in the textile factories, and who, during the difficult years of communism, had the courage to fight independently for their rights. It is a city shaped by four cultures and four traditions: Catholic, Protestant, Orthodox and Jewish. The inhabitants of Łódź live ecumenism in their daily lives, building their hospitality and openness on unity in diversity and on dialogue. The first invitation to host the meeting was received by the Taizé Community in 2017, from 200 young women and men from Łódź, gathered in an ecumenical prayer and signing a letter inviting the Community to organise the meeting. A few years later, they were joined by Archbishop Grzegorz Ryś, the Mayor of the City Hanna Zdanowska, and Bishop Semko Koroza of the Evangelical Reformed Church.
