This page contains the daily meditations given each evening by Brother Matthew in Paris from 29 to 31 December. Welcome to all of you who have come from throughout Europe and from still further away to join us for four days of prayer and sharing here in Paris and in the surrounding region. I would like to express our joy at the presence of a thousand young Ukrainians who have come to spend these days with us. You are for us a sign of the hope of peace that we all carry in our hearts. « Ми з вами » (me zvami) – “we are with you!”

Messages received

On this page are published the messages sent by church and political leaders to the participants in Taizé’s 48th European meeting at Paris and Île de France. Dear Young People, On the occasion of the European Meeting organised by the Taizé Community, his Holiness Pope Leo XIV has asked me to convey his cordial greetings and the assurance of his spiritual closeness to you. Your gathering marks a new stage in the “Pilgrimage of Trust on Earth” that Brother Roger began almost half a century ago in this same city of Paris. The Holy Father is delighted to know that you are gathered in a city characterized by a rich religious heritage, shaped over the centuries by the luminous witness of so many holy people who, each in their own way, responded boldly to Christ's call.

Programme of thematic workshops

29 - 30 December

As part of the Taizé European Meeting in Paris, more than 100 thematic workshops will be offered on Monday, December 29 and Tuesday, December 30 in the afternoon, at various locations across Paris. More than 170 speakers from a wide range of backgrounds will lead workshops on many different topics. There is something for everyone! Spaces for prayer, silence, and personal listening will also be available on both days. The workshops are free of charge and open to everyone, upon registration. Don’t miss this opportunity to learn, reflect, and meet speakers from all walks of life, as well as young people from all over Europe!

Advent with the Taizé community

Dare to trust God—and then what? What changes in our lives when we build a relationship with God? What are we committing to when we choose the Christian faith? Each day during Advent, RCF - Radio Notre-Dame and the Taizé community offer a one-minute video. Twenty-six meditations by the brothers of Taizé and by those preparing the 2025 European Meeting of Young Adults in Paris. Turning towards hope despite fear and worry. Believing that the Word of God is at work in us. Experiencing Christian joy. Brother Matthew, Sister Jessica, the Sisters of Saint Andrew, Ferenc and Orsi, and also Francisco, Tabea and Marta share their testimonies and reflections to nourish and enlighten your spiritual life. They share the same Christian faith, yet each has a unique experience of God. This Advent, “dare to trust God” with the Taizé community!

Ecological Charter

for the European meeting in Paris 2025/2026

Welcomed in the French capital 10 years after COP21 and the Paris Agreement on climate, the European meeting of young people in Paris and Île-de-France is a time of prayer, sharing and fellowship. As in every ecumenical approach, solidarity with creation has a central place, because our faith calls us to care for the world and the creation entrusted to us as a gift. We are aware of the impact that such a large gathering can have on the environment. This ecological charter is a simple, practical guide to reduce our collective and individual footprint, foster simplicity of life, and root our spiritual journey in coherent ecological action.

From Tallinn to Paris, Pilgrims of Hope and Peace

On December 30, 2024, in Tallinn, Estonia, Brother Matthew, prior of the Taizé ecumenical community, announced the location of the next European meeting: it will take place in Paris and the entire Île-de-France region, from December 28, 2025 to January 1, 2026. At the invitation of Archbishop Laurent Ulrich of Paris and all the Catholic bishops of the Paris province, Protestant and Orthodox leaders at the national and regional level have joined forces. The three co-presidents of the French Council of Christian Churches, Bishop Éric de Moulins-Beaufort, Pastor Christian Krieger and Metropolitan Dimitrios, have signed a joint press release​.
