We called on the Lord, the God of our fathers, and God heard our cry. God saw our misery, our toil and oppression and brought us out of the land of slavery.

The Lord watches over those who rely on God’s love, to keep them alive in time of famine.

The people of God did not go thirsty when he led them through the desert; God made water spring out of the rock for them.

Do not let anyone criticise you for what you eat or drink, or about observance of annual festivals, New Moons or Sabbaths. These are only a shadow of what was coming: the reality is the body of Christ.

We are considered as sorrowful, we who are always rejoicing; as poor, we who make many people rich; as having nothing, we who possess everything.

Jesus took Peter, John and James with him and went up onto a mountain to pray. And as he was praying the appearance of his face changed. Then a cloud enveloped them and they were afraid as they entered the cloud. A voice came from the cloud, saying, “This is my Son, whom I have chosen; listen to him.”
