When life becomes hard and inwardly we are drawn in different directions, our fears can take control and we no longer know what to do. But you, God of consolation, stay close to us and you carry us always. And trust is born again; the dawn begins to break: you bring us back to life.

Jesus, shepherd of our lives, you reflect God’s love, and your patience has no limits. You see, you hear, and you share everything with us. Open us to receive what you want to say to us today. May your word lead us always on your way.

God of compassion, help us grasp how you look on people. You see those who are in need, those who weep or who are passing through a time of distress. By the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of consolation, help us to remember the words of Jesus: "Whatever you do for the least of my sisters and brothers, you do for me." Then our hearts open and we dare to take the next step in order to love as you have loved us.
