“A Day Like in Taizé”
Meeting in Baden, 24–25 May 2026
On the feast of Pentecost, 24–25 May 2026, two brothers from the Taizé Community took part in a meeting in Baden entitled “A Day Like in Taizé.” Around 300 people participated in the gathering, and about 600 people joined the Sunday evening prayer. Most came from different parts of Switzerland, while others travelled from abroad, including Germany, England, and Finland. “A Day Like in Taizé” was part of DisputNation, through which the town of Baden is marking the 500th anniversary of the Baden D
A Living Church at the Heart of Argentina
February 2026
Two brothers from Taizé, and a consecrated laywoman who has lived for many years with the brothers of Taizé in Brazil, spent five weeks as a temporary community in Alta Gracia, in the province of Cordoba, Argentina. They were joined by three young volunteers, two of whom had previously served as volunteers in Taizé. Here is their account: The fact that there were six of us, of different ages, genders, personalities, and church backgrounds, was a great source of richness. It provided a diversity
Taizé in Hong Kong: Listening, Peace and Thirsting for Silence
30 April - 3 May 2026
During his first visit to Hong Kong Brother Matthew, the prior of the Taizé Community, shared a message of continuity, listening and spiritual depth for the young people of today. The connection between Taizé and Hong Kong goes back a long way. Brother Matthew joyfully recalled that this relationship is part of a long history: the community’s founder, Brother Roger, visited Hong Kong as early as 1977, followed by Brother Alois in 2018. The primary purpose of this current visit is to assure the y
A Taizé brother went to Palestine, Israel and Jordan
in February
The threat of war with Iran was already looming when I flew to Tel Aviv on January 31. Was I going to be able to return? I couldn't count on it too much. My first night at the Tantur Ecumenical Institute allowed me to see the team again from Tantur. Many young people have bright memories of the beauty of the place and where the first welcome took place during our meeting in the Holy Land in May 2022. The wall that separates Israel from Palestine is only a few hundred meters away. The the next da

From Taizé, a journey between resilience and hope
Fifteen days visiting cities plunged into darkness and “islands of resilience”: Brother Benoit tells SIR about a Ukraine that is wounded but not defeated. Young people showing solidarity, committed churches, families suffering from Russian attacks. Amid the cold and fear, hope becomes a daily choice and a tangible sign of freedom. “We told the young people we met: ‘We have no message to convey to you, except that of our spiritual solidarity through prayer and our presence. It is they, and all th
Visit in Switzerland
9 November 2025
On Sunday, November 9, 2025, Brother Matthew and Brother Raymon were in Romainmôtier and Lausanne. In Romainmôtier, Brother Matthew gave a meditation on the texts of the day during the 10:15 a.m. service. This visit was in response to an invitation from the Fraternité de Prière Œcuménique (FPO). The links between Romainmôtier and Taizé go back a long way. On June 29, 1952, Brother Roger and other brothers from Taizé came to take part in the 1500th anniversary celebrations. At 4 p.m., Brother Mat
Visit in Romania
October 2025
During the first two weeks of October, a brother from Taizé travelled through eleven towns and villages in Transylvania and Moldavia, in Romania (itinerary on Google Maps). This time was particularly varied, in several ways. There were encounters with people of different generations, reflecting the long friendship between Taizé and Romania: elderly people who had welcomed brothers back in the 1970s and 1980s; adults who came to Taizé during the 1990s and 2000s; students and high-school pupils, s
Visit to Lebanon
April - May 2025
The day after our arrival in Beirut, we went to visit a group of Maronite Catholic Christian youths in a neighborhood of South Beirut called Hadath. A very beautiful and moving meeting with these young people who did a lot to help Muslim and Christian families in this neighborhood which had known deadly Israeli bombardments in the autumn last year. Finally, for several months now, peace and calm seemed to have returned to their neighborhood. However, two days after this visit, while we were gath
Visits to Mexico and Costa Rica
May 2025
Eleven years after the Latin American meeting held in Mexico City in 2014, a brother from the community returned to Mexico to renew contacts with the Church and to participate in prayers with Taizé songs. He also visited several places in Costa Rica. In Mexico City, an ecumenical prayer organised by the Catholic Bishops' Conference took place on the 1700th anniversary of the Council of Nicaea. Representatives from various churches participated. The following day, an ecumenical prayer service was
