General Program
Regular daily prayer times will be offered, and a special place for Muslim prayer will be set up in one of the rooms usually used for the welcome. Muslims and Christians will be able to discover what it means to pray for young people from a religious tradition other than their own. Emphasis will be placed on small-group sharing, and the possibility of meeting others during free time. The meeting takes place in an atmosphere of mutual respect, and this is a condition of participation.
An imam, in collaboration with a Taizé brother, will lead the morning exchanges, based on a passage from the Koran introduced by the imam, and a passage from the Bible introduced by the Taizé brother.
In mid-afternoon, after lunch and some free time to relax, everyone will be able to take part in one or other of the small jobs necessary: washing up, cleaning, gardening, helping with the general upkeep of the Taizé premises, preparing meals, and so on.
Each day, from 5.30pm to 7pm, workshops on different themes will be offered for those who wish to take part: themes linked to relations between Christians and Muslims, but also workshops focusing on other subjects. In addition to the Christian-Muslim group, several hundred other young people will be present at Taizé that week.
NB
- • It is also possible to remain at Taizé from the afternoon of Friday, July 18 to midday on Sunday, July 20, and continue the regular program of weekends in Taizé, with a special time of exchange on Saturday morning for the Christians and Muslims still present.
- • To comply with French legislation concerning the accommodation of minors, 17-year-olds will stay in dormitories on their own (with a dormitory nearby for the adults who have accompanied them) and will have their own morning sharing group, in which an accompanying adult will take part.
- • A bus will leave Lille on Sunday, July 13 at 7am. Stop in Paris (Porte d’Orléans) at 10.30am. Stop at Massy mosque at 11am. Arrival at Taizé 5.30pm. For the return journey: departure from Taizé on Friday July 18 at 10am; arrival at Massy at 5pm; in Paris Porte d’Orléans at 5:30pm; in Lille at 8:30pm.
